Ne Nous Fachons Pas — closed! :(
Oh man, what a drag! I just found out this joint closed. I'm inconsolable. However, there's a new restaurant there called Tendre Voyou and I hear it's really good! C'est la vie.

This tiny hipster bar on a tiny street just South of Place Pigalle is literally the smallest bar I've ever been in, and it's one of my very favorites in Paris. The scene in there is nothing like the rest of the surrounding red light district with all the prostitutes and drug dealers and whatnot; it's got kind of a 60s English mod sort of vibe going on, the music is incredible (60s mod rock stuff, usually played very loud), the guys who run the place are among the coolest and friendliest Parisian bartenders you'll ever meet, and the people who hang out in there are mostly young, beautiful, and stylish hipster/rocker types. I love this bar, and it's one of the things I miss most about living in that neighborhood; I used to live right on the other side of Place Pigalle from there, and my beautiful Bosnian burlesque dancer roommate was well-known enough at Ne Nous Fachons Pas that I could sometimes ride her coattails toward a free drink or two. The name of the bar apparently comes from a French film that I've never seen, but there are posters and framed stills from the movie decorating the walls of the bar. Anyway, wonderful atmosphere, definitely try to check it out if you're in the neighborhood. (Incidentally, there's also a cheap and simple and good sushi restaurant directly across the street.)
